29.04.2019 – An undisputed performance characterized the second race of the renewed Speed Euroseries by Ultimate Cup Series 2019 that has gone underway on the fast and technical French circuit of Dijon-Prenois this weekend.

The European Series devoted to CN cars thanks to the commitment of Ultimate Series and V-Motor Company is back this year to excite the heart of fans and it did not betray expectations in this second meeting of the season. Lionel and Antoin Robert (FRA), on the #4 Norma M20FC run by ASP Racing, claimed a splendid victory at the end of the three hours long race on Sunday morning and took the classification lead.

The weekend saw highly experienced drivers behind the wheel of the CN cars and opened with the first free practice session on Friday afternoon monopolized by the Normas M20FC of Krafft Racing, with Aegerter/Cauvin leading the group. The second session was run on Saturday morning and the fastest time was posted by the winners of the opening race in Estoril Bellarosa/Belotti, on the #45 Wolf GB08 Tornado run by Avelon Formula, which envisaged for another intense challenge.

The only qualifying session saw Dominique Cauvin confirming his great feeling on the Norma M20FC. He posted the fastest time in 1:19.082s, which earned him the pole position proceeding the sister car driven by Robert/Robert by more than one second. Pigozzi/Ibanez put in a good performance on the #55 Wolf GB08 Tornado run by Avelon Formula and missed out on getting the front row by only 0.037s ending third.

The race had a different plot though, as Robert/Robert took an early lead and a great pace allowed them to increase their advantage hour after hour. ASP Racing’s lineup crossed the finish line on top enjoying a two laps margin on Aegerter/Cauvin, that were second and authors of the fastest lap of the race.

Avelon Formula had a tough weekend instead: Pigozzi/Ibanez, awaited on track after the good performance in qualifying, had to retire on lap 15 during the first hour when Pigozzi crashed out, while Bellarosa had a solitary run due to a problem that prevented Belotti to get on track on Sunday, and had to stop thirty laps early for the puncture of the rear right tyre. Bartolami/Cristini, that ended second at Estoril, did not finish the race either.

The podium was rounded off by Sauvain/Tref, on the third Norma M20FC run by Krafft Racing. The French lineup run a remarkable race and put in a recovery race from the penultimate spot of the starting grid. Bassora/Jarno, on Norma M20FC run DB Autosport, were fourth, while Pollini/Manfrè had the duty to defend Avelon Formula’s colors ending fifth on the #44 Wolf GB08 Tornado.

The challenge will resume in one month time, on the weekend of May 24-26th, from the French circuit of Le Vigeant that will stage the third round of season 2019.
